10th Anniversary of the Centre for Translation | | |

A ceremony was held in Lam Woo International Conference Centre at the Hong Kong Baptist University on November 4 to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the University's Centre for Translation. At the reception many prominent guests were present including President and Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Ng Ching Fai, former President of the University Dr Daniel Tse, and former Legislative Councilor Dr Eric Li Ka Cheung - who is one of the Centre's long-term clients - and academics from the translation departments of other universities in Hong Kong. An exhibition was also held at the venue which showed the many projects - in translation consultancy, in public service and in academic research - conducted by the Centre over the past decade. In his opening speech, Professor Ng Ching Fai spoke of the frequent exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland after China joined the WTO, and how, as a globally engaged city, Hong Kong would have an ever-increasing demand for translation professionals.
